Finnair Gears Up for Flight Disruptions Due to 48-Hour Strikes in Finland

Finnair is getting ready for some turbulence in its flight operations as a 48-hour political industrial action is set to take place in Finland on February 1-2, 2024. This move is expected to have a notable impact, leading to the cancellation of flights that would affect around 60,000 customers.

As of now, Finnair has not made any changes to its flight schedule for the mentioned dates. However, they are offering customers who might be affected by the strike the chance to reschedule their flights, steering clear of the strike period. If you have a booking between January 31 and February 3, you can adjust your travel dates to an earlier or later time, up to March 15, 2024, depending on your ticket type.

Finnair will make decisions about flight cancellations once they have a clearer picture of the strike's impact. They plan to directly communicate with customers who will be affected, aiming to reroute them to alternative flights. They are asking for patience as customer service might face high demand during this period.

During the strike days, disruptions in ground services, baggage handling, and catering are expected. These issues may linger, affecting operations even after the strike concludes. Finnair expresses regret over the inconvenience caused by this political industrial action, emphasizing that it is unrelated to their usual operations. They advise affected customers to plan ahead and find suitable replacement flights to minimize uncertainties in their travel plans.
